Dinner to celebrate Liberian Independence Day

The flag of Liberia

On Saturday July 26, I hosted a koinonia dinner to celebrate Liberia Independence Day. What’s a koininia dinner you ask? Koinonia is a Greek word that occurs 20 times in the Bible. Koinonia’s primary meaning is “fellowship, sharing in common, communion.” We had a pot-blessing style dinner and there were about 16 people who came and went as their schedule permitted. There was so much good food! I hung the Liberian flag in honor of the day, and many of our Cornerstone supporters and March 2014 mission team members came and enjoyed talking and sharing all the great things that God has done. We prayed about the Ebola outbreak in Liberia and the building of the school building in Workpeh Town. Philippians 4:5-7 (teaches us to stand firm in the Lord) 5Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near. 6Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. [NIV]

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of the republic of Liberia graced the historic groundbreaking ceremony of Cornerstone Mission Liberia

It’s hard to believe that just one year ago I was in Workpeh Town preparing for the historic ground breaking ceremony for Cornerstone AG Mission School on Aug 3, 2013. General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God Church in Liberia, Jimmy Kuoh, was the keynote speak. What an awesome groundbreaking ceremony it was. I am not sure if you remember how the enemy tried to stop us and send me cowering into the corner. You can read more by going back to Sept 13, 2013 blog post. Just like last year, the enemy is lurking around seeing what they can do to make us fail. Today we are on guard as there is another work of the enemy in Workpeh Town. There have been some in Liberia who acted like they were supporting the building of the Cornerstone AG Mission school project but in reality they have been working behind the scenes to slow our progress and would love to see the work stop altogether. They have been a constant voice in the ears of the villagers, stating with authority that there will be no one coming to Workpeh Town from America, there will be no school, no clinic. Reminding them that their town name means “HOPELESS” and reinforcing the unspoken lie that their situation is hopeless. Can you imagine their surprise when we showed up with a whole medical team with a doctor and pastor to open the clinic, play with the children at the school and hold a 3 day revival! We know our God is faithful and is allowing us to be one or two steps ahead of the enemy in every situation and making them look smaller with each lie they announce. As we continue the work, their word is valued less and less by the villagers, PRAISE GOD!!!

Now there is a need for a well to be dug on the property. Digging a well was on our master plan for the Cornerstone property but now, due to our enemies pushing the issue, we have had to move this project up in priority as our next thing do get done for the school to be credited by the Board of Education.

Now the well needs to be dug and operational by October. The cost to dig a well and install a hand pump is $4,000.00 I know we just had a wonderful outpouring of financial gifts to build the school which has already been sent and work is now “full speed ahead” on the building project. Please pray about what God wants you to do help us dig a well on the school property and feed the children.

The estimated monthly cost for the feeding program is $300.00. This amount will feed the children one meal daily for five days a week. Other news: Some have asked when the next mission team will be. I am excited to see so much interest in Cornerstone ministries. Currently, there are no plans for a mission team. We are prayerfully considering another team in 2015 or 2016. Keep an eye out on this blog site for more updates about mission trips in the future.

Blessings,

Annetta
